24h in Auckland – New Zealand

Entre deux avions pour Tahiti j’ai eu une escale de 24h dans la capitale économique de la Nouvelle Zélande : Auckland. Ne restez pas dans une chambre d’hôtel à l’aéroport, aller faire un tour en ville ! Tout est facile, simple et pratique. On prend le Sky Bus et pour 10 euros on est déposé en ville 40 minutes plus tard.

Whilst waiting for my plane for Tahiti, I had a 24 hours stopover in the economic capital of New Zealand: Auckland. Avoid staying in a hotel room at the airport, go for a ride around town! Everything is easy, simple and convenient. Just take the Sky Bus, which costs 10 euros, in order to arrive in town within the next 40 minutes.

J’ai passé la nuit dans la guest house Metro Adventurer, c’est une des moins chère que j’ai trouvé en plein centre (20 euros) et tout à fait correcte.

I spent the night in the Metro Adventurer pension, one of the cheapest I have found in the middle of downtown (20 euros), and it is quite correct.

Here are some tips and places to visit in half a day:

Voici ce qu’on peut faire en une demi-journée :

*Se balader sur Queens road, l’avenue principale d’Auckland. On trouve toutes les marques notamment Icebreaker ma marque fétiche de vêtements de montagne en laine de mérinos.

* Hang out on Queens’s road, Auckland’s main avenue. Here you will find all famous brands including Icebreaker, which is my favorite brand of mountain clothing made of merino wool.

*Faire une exposition à Auckland Art Gallery, j’ai adoré ! Après des mois en Asie faire une virée culturelle m’a fait un bien fou. En dehors des collections permanentes j’ai eu la chance de voir MANIFESTO, une performance à travers 13 vidéos de l’artiste Julian Rosefeld’s. Il s’agit d’une série de monologue de l’actrice australienne Cate Blanchet qui excelle en incarnant différents personnages.

* Visit an exhibition at Auckland Art Gallery: I loved it! After months spent across Asia, I particularly enjoyed attending to a cultural event. Apart from the permanent collections, I had the chance to see MANIFESTO, a performance made of 13 videos shot by an artist called Julian Rosefeld’s. It consists of a series of monologues of the Australian actress Cate Blanchet, who excels in playing different characters.

*Monter en haut de la Sky City (cette tour dépasse le Tour Eiffel, on peut même y faire du saut à l’élastique)

*Climb up Sky City tower (it passes the Eiffel Tower, you can even bungee jump from there)

Une journée complète :

*Monter au Mont Eden et admirer la vue. Le War Memorial Museum semble intéressant.

*Se balader autour du port

A full day:
