Jour 1:

Se prendre pour l’impératrice Sisi

Pour se plonger dans l’ambiance de la ville et de son histoire rien de mieux que de commencer par la visite du palace Schonbrunn.

Y aller tôt le matin, ce site est le plus visité de Vienne. 3 tarifs sont proposés nous avons pris le moins cher (14 euros) ce qui était parfaitement suffisant. Les jardins sont gratuits et on peut marcher jusqu’à la Gloriette. L’impératrice Sisi a vécu dans ce château toute sa vie avec son mari Franz Joseph, empereur d’Autriche pendant 70 ans.

Day 1:

Imagine you were the Empress Sisi

Start with a tour of Schönbrunn Palace to immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the city and its history.

You ´d better get there early in the morning as this is Vienna´s most visited spot. You may choose one of the three rates, we went for the cheapest (14 euros) which was just enough for us. You can visit the gardens for free, and even walk until the Gloriette. Empress Sisi used to live in this castle all her life long, along with her husband Franz Joseph, who used to be Emperor of Austria during 70 years.

Manger sur le pouce

Le midi aller déjeuner dans le marché central de Naschmarkt. Pour quelques euros on peut déguster de bons fallafel et une bière qui nous remettent sur pied pour l’après-midi ! Mention spéciale pour les olives géantes (ma passion) que l’on déguste en apéritif.

Eating on the go

Head up to the central market of Naschmarkt to have lunch. For a few euros, you can enjoy good fallafel and a beer that will get you back on your feet for the afternoon! Special mention for the giant olives (my passion) that are so tasty as an aperitif.

Découvrir la vieille ville

A 14h des free walking tours commencent près de l’Opéra ce qui permet une visite explicative du centre historique : Opéra, Palace, quartier juif, Cathédrale Saint Etienne…

Discover the old town Free sightseeing tours start at 2pm from the Opera, which allows a guided tour of the historical center: Opera, Palace, Jewish Quarter, Saint Etienne Cathedral…

Se réchauffer dans un café

Dans un des vieux cafés traditionnels que l’on trouve un peu partout dans la ville. Kaffee Alt Wien est une bonne adresse. Ambiance locale et vieilles affiches au mur, on se fond dans le décor autour d’un verre de vin rouge.

Keep warm in a traditional coffee house

In one of the old traditional cafés all over the city. Kaffee Alt Wien is a good one. A local atmosphere with old posters on the wall are waiting for you to blend into the decor whilst enjoying a glass of red wine!

Assister à un opéra

C’est l’activité numéro 1 à Vienne. Les places sont hors de prix et tout est booké en avance. Cependant nous avons pu assister à une pièce (Don Pasquale) en achetant en last minute (30 minutes avant le début) des places assisses au 3^ème balcons (25 euros) à la sauvette dans la rue. Mon meilleur souvenir de Vienne !

Attending an opera

This is the most famous activity in Vienna. Tickets are very expensive and people usually book in advance. However, we were able to attend a play (Don Pasquale) by buying last minute (30 minutes before the beginning) seats for the third balcony (25 euros). We bought the tickets on the street. This is definitely my best memory of Vienna!

Se cultiver

Dans un des nombreux musées de la ville. Le musée Leopold est celui qui m’a le plus intéressé en proposant une exposition temporaire du peintre Gustav Klimt.

Cultivate yourself

In one of the city’s many museums. Leopold Museum is the one that interested me the most when as they offer a temporary exhibition of the painter Gustav Klimt.

Passion cheval

On admire un spectacle équestre dans un haut lieu de Vienne (situé dans le Palace) : le Spanish Ridding School. (Se renseigner sur les horaires).

Ou aller au parc d’attraction Prater. Cela semble super ! Se restaurer juste à côté dans le célèbre restaurant Schweizerhaus.

Horse passion

Enjoy a horse show in a Mecca of Vienna (located in the Palace): the Spanish Ridding School. (Ask about schedules).

Alternatively, go to the Prater amusement park. That sounds great! Eating next door in the famous Schweizerhaus restaurant.
