volunteering in Koh Chang – Thailand

Après Koh Tao me voilà parti pour une autre île : Koh Chang située à l’ouest de la Thaïlande tout prêt du Cambodge. Pour y arriver j’ai dû remonter par Bangkok et…passer la nuit dehors en attendant le premier bus… Une grande aventure. (Voici une belle photo témoignage…).

I left Koh Tao for another island: Koh Chang located in the West of Thailand, very close to Cambodia. To get there I had to go back to Bangkok for a stopover and… Spent the night outside waiting for the first bus (this photo is proof of a horrible night; I heard rats running around me…).

Je ne suis pas allée à Koh Chang par hasard, une nouvelle mission de volontariat m’attendait : faire du consulting en communication pour un ressort d’une vingtaine de bungalows : le Blue Lagoon.

Finally, I did not go to Koh Chang, as a new volunteer mission was waiting for me: perform Communication Consulting for a touristic resort of about twenty bungalows: the Bue Lagoon.

Le lieu est splendide. Situé près d’un lagon il offre tout ce dont on rêve en arrivant sur une île : proximité de la plage, calme, nature verdoyante et surtout le meilleur restaurant thaï de l’île. J’ai pu tester beaucoup de plats ils sont tous plus divin les uns que les autres. Il y a même des cours de cuisine !

This place is splendid. Located near a lagoon, it offers everything you dream about when you arrive on an island: next to the beach, quiet, with a green nature and above all the best traditional restaurant of the island. I have been able to taste many dishes; all of them are just divine. You even can attend to cooking classes!

Le propriétaire est français et l’équipe au top. L’ADN du lieu de Blue Lagoon est d’être soucieux de l’environnement en essayant au maximum de développer la permaculture. Leur but est de préserver le territoire qui est aujourd’hui menacé par un tourisme de masse. Le ressort est une petite bulle tournée vers l’humain ou l’esprit de partage règne. Aussi le Blue Lagoon s’efforce de respecter l’architecture locale, le tri des déchets ou encore la gestion de l’eau.

The owner is French and staff is great. The main concern in Blue Lagoon is to preserve the environment whilst developing permaculture as much as possible. Their aim is to preserve a territory which actual mass tourism may harm. The resort is a little ¨human friendly bubble ¨ where spirit of sharing dominates. Blue Lagoon also strives to respect local architecture, to sort their waste and to optimize water consumption.
