Kyoto & Nara: lovely cities

30 octobre 2017

Kyoto is a charming and very calm city, far away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, where life really nice is.

The city is surrounded by temples, there are 2000 of them! I have concentrated on the main ones, which are absolutely remarkable. On the evening the light of the sundown was amazing.

The area of Gion, where you sometimes can see some geishas, is very charming in the evening . This is a real riot every time that one is passing by ! Tourists are running after them whilst drawing their cameras. This can look like a freak show, which is a bit embarrassing…One of them joined the game of pictures, I managed to shoot her briefly at that moment. Geishas usually go out in the beginning of the evening in order to join the Tee Houses (Ochaya) which welcome them and organize parties along with their clients.

Nara.

Nara.

Located one hour away from Kyoto, the former capital is well-known for its free deers and the huge Todai-ji temple. The main pavilion of this temple is the most import wood building in the world, this is pretty amazing.

On this day I have met on the train 3 very nice French people who I finally spent the day with.

After Nara we finally went to Fushimi-Ku, the largest shinto sanctuary of Japan, also famous for its thousands of  its red vermilion Torii which mark the way along the hill. We have ultimately escaped from the hordes of tourists in order to reach the most random graveyards! All this in the rain this has been a nice exploration.

To ended the day we had a hard party in Kyoto it was really fun!
